Mikkel Borg Bjergsø is the owner and founder of the brewery Mikkeller - along with being the owner of about 50 bars and restaurants around the world. He founded Mikkeller in 2006 and remains today CEO af the brewing company.
As a young adult in the end 80's and beginning of the 90's Mikkel was an elite middle-distance-runner, with various Danish Championships and Danish records on his track record. Furthermore, he participated in the European Championships in Cross Country in 1994.
In 2014 Mikkel resumed his running-career in order to get in shape and lose weight. In the summer of 2019, after getting several injuries from running, Mikkel decided to start cycling. His first bike-ride was on September 1st - the same day, in which he also started Mikkeller Cycling Club - in cooporation with Argon 18.
Since being new in the sport of cycling, Mikkel has not gotten many results on his track record, however, he has had some great experiences, such as rides in Northern Zealand with MCC and Brian Holm, amongst others. He dreams of going on cycling trips in different countries around the world, and he is working to make these dreams come true:
"My hopes and dreams for the future - within cycling, is to go on amazing trips out of the country. We are currently working on taking a cycling trip to Frankia in Germany, where we are going to visit breweries. And we are also on the drawingboard with planning a trip to Nepal, where we are going cycling in the Himalayas".
